Teenagers of History

Post by Kelcin on Fri May 06, 2011 5:43 pm

So I've been trying to think of teenagers from history. Kids that led armies, captained ships, had adventures, did anything of note.

So far, I've got:
Joan of Arc(19 when she was burnt at the stake)
Mary Shelley(Wrote Frankenstein when she was 19)
Alexander the Great(When he was 16, he beat down a rebellion, and founded a colony named Alexandropolis)
King Tut(about 19 when he died)

Not exactly a teenager, but...

George Washington (became the captain of a ship in the American Navy at age 12)

I'm not exactly sure how old they were, but they were young, Barbara and Regina Leininger were captured by the Indians, and their whole family killed. They were seperated, and Barbara eventually escaped. Regina wasn't returned home until the white captives were released from the Indians. I LOVE that story!!

You're welcome! Sure, whatever...El, Camilla, Elnarian, whatever. Very Happy

I'd have to look and make sure, but I believe one of the Knox brothers was a teenager when they brought the cannons from Fort Ticonderoga over the mountains in the Revolutionary War.

No, I'm sorry, it was...William Knox, I think. Henry Knox's younger brother. The book is titled Guns for General Washington-I loved it!! As did our whole family. And I know that the Knox brothers were young, I think, when they brought the cannons over mountains and stuff.

The two boys who led the Children's Crusade, don't know their names, I believe one was German, the other French. Turned out pretty sad though.
